How To Replace Amana Refrigerator Temperature Sensor

Step 1: Before you begin the repair on your Amana refrigerator, make sure to disconnect the power first. Do this by unplugging the power cord from the outlet or switching the circuit breaker off.
Step 2: Open the doors of the refrigerator.
Step 3: If you have any food in the refrigerator, take it out.
Step 4: Remove the shelves on the left door and set them aside.
Step 5: You will also need to remove the top shelf. Pull the shelf forward a bit, tilt it to the left, then remove it from the refrigerator.
Step 6: Set the shelf aside.

Step 21: Strip an eighth of the insulation on the two existing wires in the refrigerator.
Step 22: Take the new temperature sensor to the refrigerator and insert the two existing wires into the butt connectors.
Step 23: Crimp the connectors to secure them to the wires in the refrigerator.
Step 24: Get a heat shrink tube and slide it onto the temperature sensor.
Step 25: Using a heat gun, shrink the tube over the temperature sensor’s wires.
Step 26: Insert the temperature sensor back into the cover and push it in to secure.
Step 27: Reposition the cover on the refrigerator’s side wall and push it into place.
Step 28: Return the top shelf into the refrigerator and slide it into place.
Step 29: Also return the shelves on the door as well.
Step 30: Shut the doors of the refrigerator.
Step 31: Reconnect the power to the refrigerator by plugging the power cord to the outlet or switching the circuit breaker back on.
