Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling After Power Outage – Quick Fix
If your Frigidaire refrigerator is not cooling after a power outage, check the compressor. You should hear the motor running with a low humming sound. If there is no sound, then check the start relay attached to the compressor. The relay supplies a power boost for the compressor to start, and it may prevent the refrigerator from cooling because the compressor is off.
Use a multimeter to test the relay between the terminals to check for continuity. If you find no continuity, it may indicate that the relay is defective and needs a replacement. Otherwise, the compressor will not run smoothly, and the refrigerator will stop cooling.
Now, if the compressor is working fine, then check the condenser fan. It is the fan you find right next to the compressor. If the blades of the fan are not spinning, then the motor could be shot. This will affect the compressor, as it will overheat and affect the coolness of the refrigerator.
To change it, remove the screws that mount the fan in place in order to take it down from its compartment. Take off the bracket that joins the motor to the blades. Attach the new motor and mount it back.
Another thing to check is the circuit breaker and the power supply to the refrigerator. A power outage may cause a spike or voltage surge, which may damamge the breaker controlling the appliance.
Always get professional help if you are not sure about how to replace damaged or faulty parts of your refrigerator. This is especially true if your unit has an active warranty.
Frigidaire Refrigerator Beeping and Not Cooling – Solutions
Check the door or doors to be sure they are properly closed. If the doors are left slightly open, the temperature within the refrigerator will rise and the door ajar alarm will go off.
Ensure that you don’t overstuff the unit or have any item sticking out so that the doors don’t close well. Be sure that the doors latch well, that the gaskets are still functioning.
To stop the beeping, simply close the doors properly. The temperature will drop to the required level.
If the alarm keeps beeping even after you have shut the doors, then shut it off by pressing the alarm reset button on the display in front of the refrigerator. If your model doesn’t have this screen, unplug it for about 30 seconds and plug it back in. The beeping will stop. But before you do this, be sure the food is frozen and the door is shut.
A rise in temperature over 55 degrees Fahrenheit for side by side models and 21 degrees Fahrenheit for upright freezers will trigger the temperature alarm. And it will keep beeping until the temperature drop to an appropriate level unless you reset it with the button.
Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling – Solutions
To fix a Frigidaire refrigerator that is not cooling, check the following:
1. Condenser Fan Motor
Check the blade to see if anything is keeping it from rotating well. If nothing is obstructing it, check the motor by manually spinning the blade to see if it will spin freely.
If it doesn’t spin freely, the motor is bad and needs replacement. But if it spins freely, test the motor with a multimeter. No continuity means the motor needs replacement.
The condenser fan pulls air through the condenser coils over the compressor. If it is not working properly, the compressor will overheat and the compressor will perform poorly.
2. Evaporator Fan Motor
Spin the fan blade with your hand to check if the motor is bad. If it doesn’t spin freely, the motor is bad and needs to be replaced. And if there is a strange noise, replace the motor.
In addition, check if the motor is running by listening for a humming noise. If there is none, test it for continuity with a multimeter. No continuity means a change is needed.
The evaporator fan is responsible for drawing air over the evaporator coils and circulating it throughout the refrigerator. If it is bad, it won’t be able to circulate the cold air in the unit. This will cause the unit not to cool.

3. Condenser Coils
Check the coils for dirt or dust. Clean them thoroughly to remove any debris that could be hindering them from working effectively.
If the condenser coils are dirty, they will not be able to dissipate heat as the refrigerant passes. Over time, the refrigerator will take longer to cool because it will work harder to dissipate heat.
These are the most likely causes of a Frigidaire refrigerator not cooling. However, there are a few other components to check:
Thermistor – Check it for continuity. Replace it if there is none because it changes the temperature of the refrigerator.
Start Relay – Check it for continuity with a multimeter. If it has none, replace it. The start relay supplies power for the compressor to run. A faulty relay means the compressor will not run well.
Start Capacitor – With a multimeter, check it for continuity. If the capacitor has no continuity, change it. The start capacitor boosts power to the compressor to start.
Temperature Control Thermostat – Rotate it to the lowest to the highest setting to check if it is faulty. If you hear a click, the thermostat is fine. But if you don’t hear any click, use a multimeter to check for continuity. If there is none, replace it.

Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling But Freezer Is Cold – What to Do
If your Frigidaire refrigerator’s freezer is cooling but the fridge section is not, check the evaporator fan. Spin the blade and if it doesn’t spin freely, the motor is faulty. Additionally, if it is noisy, change it. And if the motor does not run at all, test its continuity with a multimeter. If the windings of the motor have no continuity, change the motor.
If the motor is faulty, it will not be able to spread cool air to the fridge or freezer. And if the freezer is working fine, then the fridge is not getting enough cool air.
However, if the evaporator fan is fine, check the evaporator coils. Frosted evaporator coils mean the airflow through the refrigerator will be poor. This will cause the fridge not to cool.
My New Frigidaire Refrigerator Is Not Cooling – What to Do
If your new Frigidaire refrigerator is not cooling, it could still be in demo or store mode. If it is, press the Adjust Freezer and Ice Off buttons simultaneously for about 3 seconds to exit the mode.
But if it is not, unplug the refrigerator for about 3 minutes before plugging it back in. This hard reset tends to work in righting refrigerators.
However, check the temperature settings to be sure the refrigerator is set at the right temperature. Give it 24 to 48 hours to cool.
In any case, call the Frigidaire service center to get professional help.
Frigidaire Mini Fridge Not Cooling – Fast Fix
Check the following if your Frigidaire mini fridge is not cooling:
Start Relay – The compressor will not start if it is faulty and the fridge won’t cool, consequently. Use a multimeter to test it for continuity. Replace it if there is no continuity.
Temperature Setting – Be sure the temperature is set to the coldest setting and is not off by accident.
Thermostat – It is supposed to click when you turn it clockwise or counterclockwise. If it doesn’t, it is faulty and needs replacement.
Compressor – A bad compressor is rare but possible. If it doesn’t start, it is bad. Replacing it is not cost-effective, though, so you may have to buy a new fridge.
Temperature Knob – Check the knob through which you regulate temperature. If it is broken, it will run freely when you turn it. That means you will not be able to set temperature. You will have to change it.

Frigidaire Refrigerator Compressor Running But Not Cooling – Solution
The problem is with the condenser fan, evaporator fan, or evaporator coils.
If the coils are frozen, they won’t be able to regulate cool air adequately. This will, in turn, cause the refrigerator not to cool. Thaw them by manual defrost, that is, switching the unit off for a few hours. This is because the defrost heater could be faulty.
And if the condenser fan is broken, the compressor will overheat and make the refrigerator work extra hard to retain coolness. In the end, the refrigerator will become too hot to cool well.
Change the motor of the fan by unmounting it from its compartment. Remove the bracket that holds the blade to the motor, put the new motor in the place of the old one and remount the blade.
Additionally, fix the evaporator fan by changing the motor. Remove the clip that mounts the fan, remove the blade and the wire harness. Attach the motor into the harness and remount the blade and mounting clip.
Frigidaire Refrigerator Compressor Not Running and Not Cooling
If the compressor does not run, the refrigerator does not cool. And if the compressor does not run, it may be faulty. But before deciding to replace the compressor or refrigerator, check to see if the condenser fan works or if the condenser coils are dirty.
If the condenser fan does not work or the blade is stuck, the compressor will overheat and stop working. So, inspect the fan and clean the blade if dirty. Turn it by hand and see how well it turns. If stiff, oil the motor shaft to ease friction.
But if that does not work, the motor bearings may be worn, which means replacing the motor. However, if the fan blade turns well, the problem may be a defective motor. Test it with a multimeter and replace the motor if it has no continuity.
Next, check the condenser coils; significantly dirty coils will cause the compressor to overheat. And if it overheats, it stops running, and the refrigerator stops cooling. Clean the coils with a condenser coil cleaning brush or a vacuum cleaner. Do the same every six or twelve months to keep the coils from trapping heat and causing the compressor to stop working.
Finally, check the compressor; a malfunctioning compressor may become noisy, but it may also stop running. Contact the Frigidaire Center to report the compressor issue and request service. Alternatively, use an independent technician.
Replacing a refrigerator compressor can be expensive, and you must consider the age of the appliance before that. If it is old, consider replacing it instead of buying a new compressor. However, if the appliance is new, replacing the compressor is more cost-effective.
Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling – Related FAQs
1. Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Cooling in Garage – What to Do
If your Frigidaire refrigerator is not cooling in your garage, change the location to see if there is any change. The garage could be too hot, inhibiting the cooling process of the refrigerator. If the sun hits the garage directly or there is no proper ventilation, it will affect the coolness of the refrigerator.
2. Why Is My Frigidaire Refrigerator Clicking and Not Cooling?
If your Frigidaire refrigerator is clicking but not cooling, then the compressor has a fault. It is either not getting enough power from the start relay or start capacitor or it is completed overloaded.
If the compressor is overloaded, then the condenser coil is dirty and needs to be cleaned.
To check the start relay, unplug it from the side of the compressor. Shake it; if there is a rattle, it needs replacement. If there isn’t any rattle, test it for continuity and replace it if there isn’t any.
