Maytag Refrigerator Diagnostic Mode
The diagnostic or service mode in a Maytag refrigerator helps you test its functionality, especially if it shows signs of being faulty. You can enter the service mode to determine what may be wrong. So, take the following steps:
Open the refrigerator door, press the door alarm button on the control panel, and hold it. While doing so, press the temperature up button for the refrigerator and hold it. Next, release the door alarm button once you do this and wait about three seconds before releasing the temperature up button.
Press the temperature up button one more time. When you do, the left side of the display should show 001 while the right side should show numbers or dashes. At this point, press the temperature up and down buttons for the freezer to navigate through the available service test numbers.
Each test number checks different parts of the refrigerator. For example, service test 102 tests the condenser fan and compressor by turning them on and off. And service test 101 checks the defrost circuit and defrost heater.
Maytag Refrigerator Demo Mode
The demo mode of a Maytag refrigerator is the same as the showroom mode. To enter the mode, disconnect the refrigerator from electric power, wait about fifteen seconds for the electric discharge to be complete, and reconnect it to electric power.
Within two minutes of connecting it, press the refrigerator and freezer temperature buttons simultaneously and hold them for five seconds. The refrigerator enters demo or showroom mode at this point.
To exit the mode, press the temperature setting button until it gets to the maximum point. Next, press the door switch and hold it to mimic the door closing. After that, press the temperature setting button again for three seconds, and the refrigerator exits the demo mode. You may want to reach Maytag if you have issues with the demo mode or if the unit is stuck in the mode.

MFI2570FE Model
Press the Power Cold and Light buttons at the same time and hold them for about three seconds. The control panel display counts down from three seconds to one second and at the end, the refrigerator enters the demo mode.
MFI2269FR Model
Press the Refrigerator Cooling Off button on the control panel and hold it for three seconds. You will find it on the left side of the panel. The control panel’s display counts from three seconds to one second, and the refrigerator enters the demo mode.
MFT2776FE, MFX2676FR, MSC21C6MF, MSS26C6MF Models
Press the Water Filter and Options buttons on the control panel simultaneously. Hold them for three seconds and the display on the panel counts down from three seconds to one. At the end of the countdown, the refrigerator enters the demo mode.
MFF2258FE, MFF2558FE, MBF1958FE, MBF2258FE Models
Press the temperature down button, which is the one with the minus sign, to lower the temperature setting to the lowest point. When horizontal lines appear on the temperature display, the cooling function turns off and the unit goes into demo mode.
MFC2062FE Model
Press either the refrigerator temperature button or the freezer temperature button to lower the temperature to the minimum. Horizontal lines should appear to indicate that the cooling function is off, and the refrigerator is in demo mode.
MFF2055FR Model
Locate the Moisture Control and Power Cold buttons on the control panel and press them. Hold them simultaneously for about three seconds and the Cooling Off icon above the Power Cold button will become lit to indicate the refrigerator is in demo mode.
MRT711SM Model
Locate the Temp button on the control panel, press it, and hold it for three seconds. All the LEDs will turn on when you do this, except for the Power Cold LED, which remains off. Then, you know the refrigerator has entered the demo mode.
MRT118FF and MRT311FF Models
Increase the temperature setting to the maximum or highest point, which is the coldest point. Next, press the tact switch or SW1 and hold it for five seconds. The LEDs light up one by one, going from left to right and right to left, and the cycle repeats. The refrigerator is in demo mode at this point.
MFW2055FR Model
Press the refrigerator temp and freezer temp buttons simultaneously. You will find them on the control panel of the refrigerator. Hold them for five seconds and the display on the panel counts from three seconds to one second. At this point, the refrigerator enters the demo mode.

Maytag Refrigerator Forced Defrost Mode
Entering the forced defrost mode in a Maytag refrigerator requires pressing some buttons on the control panel, as this article explains. The temperature setting will also remain the same and you cannot change it until you deactivate the mode. Press the same combination of buttons for three seconds to deactivate the Sabbath mode. Some models have a dedicated Sabbath mode button to press to activate the mode. Remember to turn off the mode when you no longer need it.
Maytag Refrigerator Stuck in Defrost Mode – What to Do
Check the defrost system, specifically the defrost timer. It controls the defrost cycle and if it is stuck or defective, the refrigerator remains in defrost mode. Try turning the timer clockwise to see if the refrigerator leaves the defrost mode.
If nothing changes, the timer may be faulty and needs a replacement. Ensure you get the right replacement part using the refrigerator’s model number if you need to replace any component. And check other components for faults so you can replace them as well.
Maytag Refrigerator Vacation Mode
