Miele Fridge Not Cooling – Quick Fix
Here is what to check if your Miele fridge freezer is not cooling:
1. Condenser Coils
At the back or bottom of the fridge freezer, you will find the condenser coils. To check if they are the cause of the fridge’s inability to cool, check if there is dirt, dust, grease or a mixture of both on them. If this is so, thoroughly vacuum and dust them.
Cleaning the coils will make them better able to dispense of the heat from the refrigerant as it passes through them. This way, the fridge freezer will not get hot but be able to cool.
2. Evaporator Fan Motor
Check the fan motor by listening for an unusual noise from it. The motor usually hums but if there is a hissing or vibrating sound, the motor is bad and should be replaced.
You can also check it by turning the fan blades to see if they turn freely. If they don’t, the motor is bad. Additionally, test the windings of the motor for continuity if there is no unusual noise and the blades turn fine. If you find no continuity, then replace the motor.
The cool air you feel from the fridge comes from the evaporator fan. If the motor is bad, it won’t be able to cool the evaporator coils and spread the cool air throughout the unit.
3. Condenser Fan Motor
Check the fan blades for any object obstructing it from turning freely. If you find nothing, spin the blades of the fan to check if the motor is defective. And if they spin alright, then test the motor for continuity using a multimeter. But if you find no continuity, you should replace the motor.
This fan keeps the condenser coils and the compressor cool as they work. But if it is unable to do this, the compressor will become too hot and the fridge freezer will become unable to cool.
4. Start Relay
Detach the start relay from the compressor and shake it. It is a small component on the side of the compressor. If you hear a sound like a rattling, the start relay is bad and should be replaced. It helps the compressor run and if it is bad, the compressor is likely not to run and the fridge freezer will not cool.

5. Start Capacitor
With a multimeter, test the start capacitor for continuity. If you find no continuity, then you know it is bad and needs a replacement. Without the capacitor, it is unlikely the compressor will start. And if it doesn’t start, the fridge freezer won’t work.
6. Evaporator Coils
If the evaporator coils have a considerable frost buildup on them, they won’t be able to dispense cool air.
Open the back panel inside the freezer section to gain access to the coils. Thaw them if there is frost on them using the manual defrost method or a hairdryer. If your fridge freezer starts cooling again, then you know they were the problem.
There is a chance the problem is caused by a defective compressor, motherboard or temperature control board. But that chance is little. So, when you check all the parts above and none has any fault, check the compressor, motherboard or temperature control board.

Miele Wine Fridge Not Cooling – How to Fix
1. Compressor
Check the compressor of the Miele wine fridge if it is not cooling. Listen to hear the hum of the compressor. If you hear nothing, turn off the fridge and touch the compressor to see if it is cold, warm or hot. This will tell you if it is even functioning at all. If it is not, then it is bad and needs to be replaced.
However, here are a number of things to check first before the compressor. This is because the compressor doesn’t become defective so easily:
2. Condenser Fan
So check the condenser fan. If it is not turning or working, the compressor will not function right. Clean the blades and check the motor for continuity. Change the motor if there is no continuity.
3. Thermostat
Also, check to see if the thermostat is broken. When you turn it from the low to high and you hear no click, know that it is bad and needs a replacement. Without the thermostat, the control board will not have the right temperature readings with which to send voltage to the compressor and evaporator fan.

4. Location
In addition to the above, check the space where you keep the fridge. A wine fridge needs space so air can circulate around it easily. If not, the fan won’t work optimally.
And don’t let sunlight hit it directly. It will reduce the fridge’s ability to maintain a cool temperature. Keep it in a room with about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Give the fridge time to adjust to the temperature.
Miele Freezer Not Cooling – How to Fix
Several issues can cause a Miele freezer to have trouble cooling or freezing. If you find that your Miele freezer does not cool enough or does not cool at all, check the start relay, condenser coils, compressor, condenser fan, and evaporator.
1 Start Relay
The first thing to check is the start relay; it is a small device fixed to the side of the compressor. It provides power for the compressor to run and can stop the entire freezer from working if defective. Remove the relay and shake it; if it rattles, the relay is defective and needs a replacemet.
But if it does not rattle, run a continuity test to determine whether or not it has continuity. You should find the freezer’s tech sheet to see the resistance value for the relay. Replace the device if there is no continuity or the reading is out of range.
2. Condenser Coils
The condenser coils may also be dirty, causing the compressor and condenser to overheat and stop working. If the compressor becomes too hot, it will stop running as a protective measure.
You should clean the coils every six to twelve months to keep them in optimum condition. Use a vacuum cleaner or a cleaning brush to remove the debris from the coils. Otherwise, they cannot dissipate the heat from the freezer, restricting its cooling capacity.
3. Evaporator Fan and Coils
The evaporator fan circulates cold air throughout the freezer to keep it cold. The evaporator coils hold the refrigerant while it absorbs the heat in the air. Then, the coils release the cold air for the fan to circulate. However, if the fan stops working, the air does not circulate. And if the coils freeze, there will be no cold air to circulate.
Open the freezer and check the evaporator compartment. If you are unsure of the steps, have a technician check the fan and coils to ensure they are in good working condition. Manually defrost the freezer if there is a sigificant amount of frost on the coils. But test the fan motor to check for continuity. Replace the fan motor if you find no continuity.
4. Condenser Fan
The fan blows cool air over the compressor and condenser coils to prevent overheating. If the fan stops working, the condenser and compressor will overheat and stop the freezer from cooling.
Test the fan motor like the evaporator fan motor. You can start by turning the blade by hand; i it has difficulty turning, the motor may be faulty. Run a continuity test using a multimeter to be sure. Replace the fan motor or the entire fan assembly if there is no continuity.
5. Compressor
The last thing to check is the compressor. It rarely fails, but poor usage and age can cause it to malfunction. If your freezer is old, it may be time to replace it instead of replacing a faulty compressor. But if the freezer is not old, contact the Miele Service Center to request compressor service.
