Do the following if you find that your Frigidaire refrigerator has stopped making ice and water:
1. Check the Water Line
A frozen water line can keep the refrigerator from making water and ice. And setting the temperature of the freezer too low freezes the line.
To know if a frozen water line is the cause of the problem, pull out the water tube at the door bottom. Then, blow air into it. If the air you blow does not get through, the line is frozen.
Pour some warm water into the tube to melt the ice stuck in it. You can opt to use a cloth soaked in warm water to run the tube until the ice melts. Another option is to use a hair dryer. But a dryer may damage the tube due to excessive heat.
Set the temperature in the freezer to the correct point – between 0 degrees and 10 degrees Fahrenheit – and not a degree lower. Doing this keeps the water line from freezing constantly.
2. Check the Water Filter
A clogged water filter limits the flow of water from the refrigerator. This is because the minerals and other compounds build over time. Slowly, they block the channel through which water flows freely.
Try dispensing straight from the water line at the back of the unit. If the flow of water is good, replace the water filter.
If it has been longer than 6 months since you last replaced the filter, it is clogged and must be changed. And if you have never replaced it, it is important to do so immediately.

1. Freezer Temperature Is too High
Setting the temperature in the freezer section, where the ice maker is, higher than 10 degrees Fahrenheit or -12 degrees Celsius affects the ice maker.
The ice maker tends to work optimally when the temperature is not higher than 5 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Door Seal is Weak
A weak door seal allows warm air to seep into the refrigerator freely. This compromises the internal temperature.
There are two ways this affects the functionality of the ice maker. One is that the temperature would be too unstable for the ice maker to produce ice.
And two is that compressor would run overtime to lower the temperature as it begins to rise. This would cause excessive cooling which, in turn, freezes the water line. Consequently, there would be no water going to the unit’s ice maker and it would be unable to make ice.
Therefore, replace the seal if you notice it does not work properly. But if it is just loose, you can fix it by pushing it into place with a small screwdriver.
It is important to note here that the door of the refrigerator has to be able to close on its own when opened at an angle for the door seal to have proper suction and sealing. If this is in place, the weight of the door helps the seal to work.
So, check for proper leveling of the legs or rollers. The front part of the unit must be slightly raised to make it a little higher than the back part.
5. Water Inlet Valve Is Faulty
The ice maker may not be getting enough water with which to produce ice because the valve is faulty. Also, if there is not enough pressure to open it, the ice maker will not receive water.
To determine if the valve is faulty, check for continuity in the valve using a multimeter. If there is no continuity, replace the valve.
The water valve is controlled by electricity so there may be a poor power supply to it. Check the solenoid to see if it is receiving adequate power. Otherwise, the valve won’t function.
Additionally, check the pressure of the water that is going to the valve. If the pressure is lower than 20psi, it is not enough to operate the valve. Increase it or have a qualified plumber fix it for you.
6. Door Switch Is Defective
The door of the freezer switches off the water dispenser and ice maker and turns the light on when you open it.
If it becomes defective, the ice maker won’t work. The same is true of the water dispenser. Therefore, test the switch with a multimeter to check for continuity. If there is no continuity in the switch, replace it.
7. Ice Maker Is Bad

Frigidaire Refrigerator Not Making Ice But Water Works – Solutions
Start by checking the power switch of the ice maker. Sometimes, you inadvertently switch it off, causing the ice maker to stop working.
Also, check the feeler arm or plastic paddle to be sure it is in the correct position. If you are not sure what the position should be, check the user manual for the refrigerator.
If the switch is turned on or the arm is in the correct position, then ensure the switch is still working. Test it with a multimeter for continuity.

The valve opens and closes to let the right amount of water flow into the ice maker and stop when the mold is full.
If the valve starts malfunctioning or becomes defective, it won’t be able to open or close as it should. As a result, the ice maker won’t get water.
Move the refrigerator and check the valve. It is usually at the bottom back of the unit, behind a cover or panel. Run a continuity test on it to see if it still has continuity. If there is no continuity, replace the valve.

However, if the machine has had sufficient time to switch over to the crushed ice selection yet you are not getting crushed ice, remove the ice bucket.
Dump any ice left in it into the sink and turn the bucket bottoms up. Check the bucket’s discharge area to see if it is open. If it is open, it means it is in the crushed ice mode. But there may be pieces of ice stuck in it, preventing it from crushing ice.
Pour some hot or warm water into the bucket until it runs free. This should take care of the residual pieces of ice.
Next, take a look at the actuator rod. It is a thin rod running along the side of the machine, close to the bottom. Move it and while you do so, inspect the discharge area on the bucket. It should close and open as you do so. If this doesn’t happen, you may have to replace the bucket.
But if the area opens and closes properly, reinsert the bucket, making sure to push it to the rear and latching it. Otherwise, the crushed/cubed ice functions may not work fully.
Note: This process also applies if the ice maker is not dispensing cubed ice but only crushed.

How Do I Troubleshoot My Frigidaire Ice Maker?
To troubleshoot your Frigidaire ice maker, do the following:
1. Check Error Codes
If there is any code displayed on the control panel, check the user manual to see if it is related to the ice maker.
If it is, find out what it means and fix it immediately. But if you are not sure how to do this, have a certified technician fix it.
2. Check Temperature

If the wire arm is stuck, ice may be holding it in place. Check for pieces of ice stuck in the arm or for frost holding it in place. If there is, use a hair dryer or steamer to thaw the ice around it.
Check the water line for ice stuck in it. The pressure of water will reduce if there is any obstruction inside the line. Using a dryer or steamer also works to thaw the ice. But use the dryer or steamer carefully as excess heat can warp the plastic material of the line.
5. Check the Pressure of Water
Small or hollow ice cubes come from low water pressure or a dirty ice maker. Find and turn off the refrigerator’s shut-off valve.
Disconnect the water line from the back of the unit and turn on the valve again. If the stream of water is not steady and good, the pressure is low. Increase it.
6. Reset the Refrigerator’s Ice Maker
Go to the refrigerator’s control panel and find the Off/On pad for the ice maker. Press it and hold it until you see the LED light beside it turns red. Give a space of some minutes. Then, press the pad and hold it again until the light turns green.
Doing this should fix some errors and malfunctions.
7. Replace the Ice Maker
