GE refrigerators, like most other modern refrigerators, have different types of drawers. However, these steps work for these drawers.

How to Take Apart GE Refrigerator Drawers

Take the following steps in order to take apart your GE refrigerator drawers:

1. Unplug the Refrigerator

Disconnect the power cord of the refrigerator from the wall outlet if you can reach it. If not, find the circuit breaker that controls that part of the house and shut it down.

It is necessary to disconnect power because of your safety. It is dangerous to work on any electrical appliance that is still connected to electric power. There could be accidental electrocution.

2. Take the Drawers Out

Open the door of the refrigerator and remove the drawers. To do this, place your hand on the handle of the bins and lift them up first. Then, pull them out and keep them on a flat surface. This should be done carefully to avoid any crack or damage to the glass.

3. Pull the Drawer Cover Out

To pull the drawer cover out, place your hand under the cover. Gently slide out the glass pane on the top of the cover and place it aside. Now, push the cover frame from the groves gently and pull it out.

4. Detach the Refrigerator Drawer Parts

To separate the glass cover of the drawer from the frame, lay it on a flat surface and turn it upside down. Next, get a flat head screwdriver and place it between the glass and the frame. Exert a little pressure to separate them. Lastly, take out the glass from the frame.

Similarly, to detach the parts of the crisper drawer, bring it out and place it on a flat surface. Remove the things inside the bin. Next, turn it upside down and use a flat head screwdriver to separate the frame from the bin. Now, detach the plastic from the frame.

However, if after taking apart the parts, you want to reassemble them again, align the frame back to the bin from the top first. Then, use your hand to gently trace the sides and exert pressure until you hear a clicking sound. This sound shows you have fixed the sides properly.
