Sub Zero Refrigerator Water Dispenser Not Working – How to Fix
If your Sub Zero refrigerator water dispenser is not working, troubleshoot the following parts and fix the problem:
1. Water Tube
A frozen water tube can reduce the amount of water that will be dispensed and even stop water flow eventually. To check if the water tube is frozen, detach the tube located at the bottom of the refrigerator door and use a hairdryer to circulate air through it. If no air passes through, then the tube is frozen.
To fix this, melt the ice and ensure that the freezer temperature is between 0° and 10° Fahrenheit. The water tube may freeze again if the freezer is too cold or may become too warm if the temperature is too high. So, ensure you stick to this temperature range.
2. Water Inlet Valve
The water inlet valve works as a channel through which water is supplied to the dispenser. If the pressure of the water is too low or the valve itself is defective, the valve will remain shut. This is because the valve needs a pressure of about 20psi to work properly.
If the pressure is enough, use a multimeter to conduct a continuity test on the water inlet valve. If it has no continuity, simply replace it.
3. Dispenser Control Board
If most of the dispenser components are not functioning properly, the dispenser control board may be faulty. It is responsible for governing most electrical and mechanical functions of the dispenser. When the board has a fault, there can be a shortage or an abrupt end of power supply to the dispenser.
Since the control board is quite difficult to test, determine whether it is only a part of the dispenser that is malfunctioning or the entire system. If the former is the case, test all individual components of the dispenser. If the components work fine, then the control board needs replacement.

4. Dispenser Switch
The dispenser switch is activated when the dispenser lever is pressed down. It then sends voltage to the water inlet valve which paves way for water to be supplied to the dispenser. If the switch is faulty, the dispenser system will not work.
Test the switch for continuity using a multimeter. If the multimeter reading shows that there is no continuity, then replace the dispenser switch.
5. Door Switch
This component turns off the dispenser whenever the door of the refrigerator is opened. If the door switch is faulty, the dispenser will not function even if the door is shut. You can easily check for faults by running a continuity test on the door switch. If there is no continuity, replace the door switch.
6. Water Filter
One of the most common Sub Zero refrigerator dispenser problems is having a clogged water filter. This can reduce water flow to the dispenser. In addition, it can make the dispenser work slower than normal. Replace the water filter every 4 to 6 months to keep the dispenser working properly.
