Galanz Mini Fridge Not Cooling – What to Do
To fix your Galanz mini fridge that is not cooling, here are things to check and fix:
Placing the mini fridge in an area where it gets hit by sunlight or any other source of heat will reduce its cooling ability. So be sure to keep it in a place with room temperature and ensure it will not be moved constantly.
2. Power Source
Be sure to plug in the fridge’s power cord into a power outlet that is completely dedicated to it. And don’t use an extension cord to plug it in. Using an extension cord will reduce the power that gets to the fridge and this can impede its cooling ability. But having a dedicated power outlet means the fridge will get enough power to keep it cool.
Additionally, keep the fridge plugged in at all times, except you have repairs to make or just routine maintenance.
Always keep the door of the mini fridge closed. This will boost its cooling capacity. If you constantly open and close the door, the cold air in the fridge will seep out easily and quickly. Consequently, the fridge will have to work harder to stay cool but in the process, it will grow warm and not cool.
In addition to the above, ensure that the door is always closed all the way. Leaving it partially open will equally affect the temperature inside the fridge.
It is important that you don’t overstock the mini fridge. It will affect the speed at which it cools and could block the vents through which cold air comes into it. Even if you have to put a large amount of food and drinks in it, turn down the temperature so they will get cold faster. And when they do get cold, turn the temperature back to the former setting.
Furthermore, try not to put hot food in the fridge. It will affect the coolness and reduce how fast it cools.
Give the mini fridge time to cool, especially if it is newly installed. It can take up to 3 hours to sufficiently cool. It will help if you don’t put anything inside it until it cools really well.

6. Temperature Setting

1. Condenser Coils
If the coils, which are found just under the fridge, are dirty, clean them with the brush part of your vacuum. Then, thoroughly dust them with a soft cloth. Be sure to turn the fridge off before you start the cleaning.
The condenser coils will not be able to remove heat from the fridge if they are very dirty. And if they cannot remove the heat, the fridge will eventually get too warm to cool.
2. Condenser Fan Motor
To check if the condenser fan motor is faulty, spin the blades manually. If they spin without a hitch, then the motor is likely not faulty. But if there is some resistance, the motor is likely faulty and should be changed.
You can also clean the blades to ensure nothing is keeping them from spinning as they should, like hair and other debris.
To be absolutely sure the motor is the problem, test it for continuity using a multimeter. If you find no continuity, the motor is bad and must be replaced.
3. Evaporator Fan Motor
To check if the evaporator fan motor is bad, turn the blades with your hand. If they don’t spin well, the motor has a problem. And if you hear a noise that should not be there coming from the motor, then something has broken in it. To make extra sure, test the windings of the motor with a multimeter. If there is not continuity, the motor should be replaced.
Without the evaporator fan, the fridge will not have any cold air with which to keep cool.
4. Start Relay
Test the relay, mounted on the side of the compressor, with a multimeter for continuity between the start and run terminal sockets. If there is no continuity, the relay could be bad. To be sure, unmount it from the side of the compressor and shake it. If you hear a rattle, the relay is bad. Replace it.
A bad relay means the compressor is likely not to run at all and consequently, the fridge will not get cold.
A broken thermostat means the fridge will be stuck on one temperature setting. Turn the knob of the thermostat from lowest to highest and wait for a click. If there is no click, replace the thermostat as soon as you can.
With a multimeter, test the thermistor’s resistance to see if it changes when the temperature of the fridge changes. When you test and don’t see this, the thermistor is bad and needs a replacement.
In addition to all of the above, the problem could be with the sealed system or with the compressor. It could also be with the main control board. You will need to get a qualified technician to be sure before you change any of these parts.
