NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler — Extensive Review

NewAir AWR-290DB Wine Cooler, 29 Bottle, Stainless Steel

NewAir manufactures the NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler.

The brand was founded in 2004 by Luke Peters and was known, at the time, for selling small and compact appliances including evaporative coolers.

Over the last 15 years since NewAir started out, it has gone on to position itself as an industry leader by expanding its range of products to include heaters, beverage coolers, wine coolers, and other kinds of coolers.

Its mission is to ensure that the quality of life of its customers improves significantly. And it achieves this by designing and manufacturing high-quality products that are well-suited to meet the needs of the customers.

One more thing: the word out there is that NewAir’s customer service is the real deal. So, if you run into any issues while using or even before using its product, all you need to do is place a call to the customer support team.

In this review of the 29-bottle dual zone wine cooler, we will let you in on what you need to know about the cooler before you make a final decision about it.

Who Needs the NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler?

The NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler is likely to be the wine cooler you’ve been looking for if you are in the market for a dual-zone wine cooler that actually does the job well.

This wine cooler features 2 different temperature ranges so that you can store a variety of wines without temperature constraints. So, if you have a collection or plan to build a collection that is comprised of red wines and white wines, then this may be the wine cooler you need.

And that’s not all.

If you are big on efficiency with no cost to the noise level, then you’ll be happy to know that unlike some compressor and even thermoelectric units, this wine cooler runs quietly. In fact, you may need to get close to the cooler to be sure that it is working because of its noiseless operation.

Moreover, capacity may be one of the top factors on your list. If that’s the case, then the 29-bottle capacity of this wine cooler may be the capacity that you need. And even if you don’t have up to 29 wine bottles yet, the number may increase and you want to be sure that there’ll be space for your new additions.

What’s even more? The fact that this wine cooler can accommodate wine bottles of different sizes may be all you need to hear to know that there’s really no limit to the type of wine that you can store in it.

Let’s show you more about this cooler in the features section.

Features of the NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler

Efficiency and Noise Level

The NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler is a good recommendation if you are in the market for a wine cooler that doesn’t just do its cooling job but does it quietly.

Being a compressor wine cooler, it is expected that this unit will be noisy. But thankfully, the manufacturer worked on this aspect and ensured that this compressor wine cooler stood out from the rest of the pack.

As someone who already owns the wine cooler pointed out, he had to put an ear so close to the unit to be sure that it hadn’t packed up and died. The good news was that his fears were not confirmed.

Temperature Control

Another way that the NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler gives its users good value for their money is the temperature control.

First, the user-friendly buttons at the top of the unit already give the user control of the temperature in each of the two zones. The display screens then make it easy for the user to monitor the temperature in each zone at every given time.

Apart from all these, this wine cooler is also able to hold the temperatures constantly. This means you are less likely to experience fluctuations in temperatures.

More so, because the temperatures are usually precise, there are fewer chances of differences between the displayed temperatures and the actual temperatures in the unit.

All these amazing features simply mean that you always get to control how your wines are cooled. Plus, you can rest assured that the quality and taste of your wines will be preserved.

Moisture Control

NewAir expects that at some point you may have some moisture dripping from the bottles. As the moisture accumulates, it may get the interior of the wine cooler messy. This is what one of the cups placed in the wine cooler is meant for.

We thought we should let you know just in case you get this wine cooler eventually and you are wondering what the cups are meant for; as NewAir probably forgot to include instructions on what to do with them.

The larger cup is the one meant to collect moisture and act as a drip tray for the wine cooler while the smaller cup is meant to hold some water for humidity control.

Just so you know, the purpose of the humidity control is to prevent the cork from drying out.

Brightness Settings

The user also gets to control the brightness of interior lights shine.

So, apart from being able to turn off and turn on the lights whenever you feel like, you can also dim the light and increase the brightness depending on your mood or the mood in your space.

The lights are LED lights and harmless to your wines.

Adjustable Feet

Among other installation headaches, one of the issues users experience is related to stabilizing the unit properly.

You want to avoid rattling and vibrations that could happen when the unit is not well balanced. This is why the feet under this wine cooler are adjustable. So, whether you are installing it under a counter as a built-in model or installing it as a freestanding unit, you can bank on stability from these feet.

Lock Feature

The NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler comes with a lock feature to keep unwelcome hands out of your wine collection. But before you run on thinking it is a sophisticated lock of some sort, we hate to burst your bubble, but it isn’t.

The lock feature is just some mechanism that makes it difficult to open the unit by just pulling at the handle. So, you can rest assured that your little ones won’t get into the unit when you are not looking.

Shelving

The NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler comes with 5 beech wood shelves that slide out with ease whenever you want to load or offload the unit or when you need to retrieve a wine bottle for yourself, a guest, or a customer.

These shelves are adjustable in the sense that you can either decrease or increase the height between them by changing their positions. This feature comes in handy when you have large wine bottles like Pinots to store in the wine cooler.

In the top zone, the first shelf has more space than the second shelf. This means that unlike the second shelf which is able to hold a maximum of 5 wine bottles when placed in alternate directions, the first shelf can allow you place 2 more bottles on the stacked 5 on the shelf. This further means you can have a maximum of 12 bottles in the top zone.

In the bottom zone, the last shelf has more room and is able to hold 7 bottles like the first shelf in the top zone. The other two shelves can then hold 5 bottles each. This means you can comfortably store 17 Bordeaux-style wine bottles in the bottom zone.

What Users Are Saying about the NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler

The general consensus on the NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler is a good one.

On the good side, some users have shown their satisfaction with the efficiency of this wine cooler. Some of the reports about its efficiency include the temperature consistency and precision, the quiet cooling, the wide temperature range, and the control given to users on how their wines are cooled.

Some users also pointed to the design and construction of the wine cooler. One of the ways that some users knew that NewAir places premium on how its customers receive their order of this wine cooler was in the quality of packaging that was used.

Moreover, the packaging was such that irrespective of shipping and handling most customers received their wine cooler without damage. And in cases where there was damage, NewAir ensured that the issues were resolved.

In terms of design, the compactness and how easily the wine cooler blends into their space was a plus for some of the users. The same was true irrespective of the installation style.

On the flip side, most users didn’t have an idea of what to do with the cups in the unit because there were no instructions on how to use them.

Also, even though reversing the door was easy, removing the logo so that it is not upside down wasn’t easy.

Our Verdict

Here’s our take on the NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler…

First, we are happy with the design, construction, and efficiency of this wine cooler. One of the things we particularly love about this wine cooler is that it is true to its claims to a large extent.

For instance, its dual cooling feature is quite effective. With a temperature range of 40 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit in the top section and a range of 50 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit in the bottom section, users can conveniently decide to store both red and white wines and bring them to the right temperatures without hassles.

It is also noteworthy that the temperatures are precise, consistent, and are attained quickly.

Also, the extra features like the lock feature to keep unwanted hands away, the drip cup and humidity control cup, and the reversibility of the door make this wine cooler worth every cent spent to have it.

However, it only makes sense that adequate information about how to use the moisture-control features should have been included. But sadly there wasn’t any and users had to figure it out on their own, call NewAir, or ignore the features.

But overall, the NewAir 29-Bottle Dual Zone Wine Cooler is a good, efficient, and value-adding wine cooler. Think so too? Then we suggest you get yours too.
