Why a Samsung Fridge Is Heating Up
The following are possible reasons why a Samsung fridge heats up:
1. Wrong Location
If the fridge is in a place where sunlight hits it directly or is close to some other source of heat, it can cause the fridge to heat up. Check the areas surrounding the fridge to see if there is any heat source, no matter how small.
Additionally, move the fridge away from sunlight; it reduces the fridge’s capacity to function. And be sure you don’t put any cloth on top of the fridge as a cover. It will reduce the power of the fridge to dissipate heat easily, trapping heat and causing it to heat up.
However, if you cannot move the fridge away from the sunlight, put a screen on the window and crank up the air-conditioner to reduce the heat.
2. Frequent Door Opening
Instead of opening the door of the fridge every half-hour or so, decide what you want from inside it before opening the door. Doing this keeps the fridge from having to exert itself.
In addition, do not leave the door open for long periods. Doing this will have the same effect on the fridge as opening the door too often. For this, it is also important to decide what you need from the unit so you don’t hold the door open too long.
Opening the door of the fridge too often will cause its cooling capacity to reduce. Because of this, the fridge will work extra hard to maintain some coolness inside and the extra work will cause it to heat up.
3. Poor Spacing
Create a space of at least 5cm between the outside walls of the fridge and the walls of the house. And create a space at the top of the fridge, too.
Keeping the fridge flush to the walls at the sides and at the back affects how well it works. There won’t be enough space for the circulation of air. Therefore, the air that the fridge releases won’t have room to escape.
4. Too Much Food
Reduce the contents of the food and drinks in the fridge, if it is too full, to allow it time to operate and cool accordingly. Packing it too full will reduce the speed at which it cools. The fridge will work harder to maintain the temperature, thereby causing it to heat up.
It is usually best to fill the fridge only ¾ full. In the same vein, it is not god to leave the fridge empty. You will find that an empty fridge does not maintain a cool temperature well.
5. Dirty Coils
If the condenser coils of the fridge are dirty, clean them. Check behind the fridge, at the bottom, to see the condenser coils. Taking a look at them will tell you whether they are clean or dirty. If you have never cleaned them, the chances are that they are significantly dirty.
Therefore, clean the coils with a soft brush. If you can, use the brush head of your vacuum to suck the dirt away. And if there is any sticky or greasy feel, wipe it off using warm soapy water and a soft rag.
Dirty condenser coils cannot release the heat from the fridge. The coils are responsible for releasing the heat from the refrigerant that goes through them so that the heat does not get to the fridge. If the coils cannot do their job, the fridge will heat up.
6. Incorrect Temperature Setting
Check the temperature setting in the fridge to be sure it is set to the right point. Adjust it if it is set too low or too high. Even if the temperature of the environment is too high, the recommendation is to set the temperature of the fridge to about 7 degrees Celsius. Overworking the fridge will only cause it to heat up.
