Haier Refrigerator Water Dispenser Not Working – What to Do

If your Haier refrigerator water dispenser is not working, inspect the following components and replace any found to be defective:

1. Water Tube

If the water tube of your refrigerator dispenser is frozen, the dispenser will not work. To know if the water tube is frozen, pull out the tube from the bottom of the refrigerator door and use a hairdryer to blow air through it.

If you notice that air does not flow through the tube, that is an indication that the tube is frozen and needs to be thawed.

Also, make sure the freezer temperature is at a range of 0 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature is above or below this range, the water line will freeze or become too warm.

2. Water Inlet Valve

The water inlet valve allows the supply of water to the refrigerator dispenser. If the valve breaks down or has a low water pressure, the valve will stay shut and prevent water from flowing into the dispenser.

The water inlet valve should have a minimum pressure level of 20 psi to work without any hassle. You can use a pressure relief valve or a water pressure regulator to check the water pressure level.

If the water pressure is as recommended, use a multimeter to check if the water inlet valve has continuity. Get a new water inlet valve if the existing one does have continuity.

3. Dispenser Switch

Voltage flows to the dispenser via the dispenser switches. If any of these switches are defective, your dispenser will malfunction. You have to conduct a continuity test to know if the dispenser switches are faulty and need replacement.

4. Door Switch

As you open the door of your Haier refrigerator, the door switch is activated and turns off the water dispenser. If the door switch breaks down, the dispenser will not function.

Use a multimeter to conduct a continuity test to know if the door switch is faulty and needs to be replaced.

5. Water Filter

The water filter sieves out dirt and contaminants from your water. If the water filter is clogged or broken, your water quality will be affected and, by extension, your health.

Open the refrigerator dispenser and check if the water filter is clogged with dirt and debris. Replace the water filter if it is clogged. In addition, you should endeavor to replace the water filter of your dispenser every six months, so you can rest assured your water quality is not compromised.

6. Dispenser Control Board

Just as most parts of the human body will not work without the heart, so also will most parts of your refrigerator dispenser without the dispenser control board.

If you notice most part of your Haier refrigerator dispenser is not working, the dispenser control board needs to be checked. Troubleshooting the control board is quite tricky, so you may have to hire a repairman if fiddling with an electric circuit is not your thing.

Note: Ensure you unplug your Haier refrigerator before you start your troubleshooting process to avoid electrocution.

Haier Refrigerator Water Dispenser Cleaning Procedure

For your Haier refrigerator dispenser to serve you for long, it is important to have a cleaning routine. What is more, you do not want to drink bacteria-infested water from your dispenser.

To clean your refrigerator water dispenser, disconnect the power cord from the power outlet to prevent electric shock. After that, use a flathead screwdriver to unscrew the water tank and the water tube.

Slide out the water tube and tape it to the side of the dispenser so it does not fall off while cleaning. After that, make a vinegar solution and pour three or four cups into the water tube. You can use a small funnel for this step so you do not have vinegar spill all over the floor.

Wait for about 15 to 20 minutes for the vinegar solution to dislodge the dirt and contaminants in the water tube. After that, thoroughly flush out the vinegar solution and screw the water tube and water tank back in their original position.

Finally, pour a bowl of fresh water into the dispenser system to remove the vinegar residue and reconnect the refrigerator to its power source.

Haier Refrigerator Water Dispenser Leaking – Solutions

If you discover a leak coming from your Haier refrigerator dispenser, check the following components and replace the defective one:

1. Water Filter

First, check the water filter head and housing for any cracks. Also, check if the seal is torn or missing. If you notice any cracks, get a new water filter head and housing.

Meanwhile, if the water filter is not correctly connected to the housing, adjust it appropriately, and that should solve the problem.

If you decide on replacing the entire water filter, you can use the bypass plug before the filter arrives.

2. Water Inlet Valve

Water gets to the water dispenser and icemaker through the water inlet valve. The water inlet valve will start leaking if it is not tightened properly or has a crack. Tighten the valve properly if that is the cause of the leaking problem. On the other hand, get a new water inlet valve if the existing one is broken.

3. Water Tank Assembly

The next component to troubleshoot if your Haier appliance is leaking is the water tank assembly. Carefully check if any corner of the tank is leaking. If the tank is leaking, replace it.

Do not attempt to glue the tank because it is made of plastic and will not stick. Replacing it is your only option.

4. Drip Tray

As a self-defrosting appliance, the Haier refrigerator dispenser comes with a drip tray that collects water that may spill over from the dispenser. If the drip tray is full, water will spill all over the floor, and you will think some components of the dispenser are defective. Simply empty the drip tray, and the problem will be gone.

Note: Before you inspect your Haier refrigerator dispenser for any sign of cracks or leaks, ensure the appliance is not connected to the power source to prevent electric shock.
