Kenwood Refrigerator Water Dispenser Not Working – How to Fix

Inspect the following parts and fix anyone you find defective if your Kenwood refrigerator dispenser is not working:

1. Water Tube

If air cannot flow through the water tube to the dispenser, you will not be able to use the dispenser. Check if the water tube is blocked with ice and melt it out if that is the case.

In addition, you should ensure the temperature of your freezer is between 0 and 10 degrees Fahrenheit so that the water line does not freeze again or become too warm to produce cold water.

2. Water Filter

The water filter is installed on your Kenwood refrigerator to ensure you always get to drink pure water. If the water filter gets clogged with dirt, not only will your drinking water be compromised, but also the dispenser may not work.

Detach the water filter from the refrigerator and check if it is responsible for the Kenwood refrigerator dispenser problems. If the pores of the water filter are clogged with contaminants, replace the water filter. You should also consider replacing the water filter if you have been using it for up to six months.

3. Door Switch

The door switch on your Kenwood refrigerator dispenser is designed to turn off the water dispenser when you open the door of the refrigerator. The dispenser will not work if the door switch fails.

To know if the door switch is the culprit behind the Kenwood refrigerator dispenser problems, test it for continuity using a multimeter. If there is no continuity, replace the door switch.

4. Dispenser Switch

The dispenser switch is responsible for transferring voltage to the dispenser. The water dispenser and ice maker of your Kenwood refrigerator will stop working if the dispenser switch fails.

Since the dispenser switch is an electrical component of your refrigerator, you can test it for continuity to know if it is the cause of your dispenser problems. If the multimeter reading shows that there is no continuity in the dispenser switch, go for a replacement.

5. Dispenser Control Board

Think of the dispenser control board as the heart of your refrigerator dispenser. If the dispenser control board breaks down, all components of the dispenser wired to it will be affected.

So, if more than two electrical components of your Kenwood refrigerator are faulty at the same time, the most likely culprit is the dispenser control board. Test the control board to know if it is due for replacement.

6. Water Inlet Valve

Water flows to the dispenser through the water inlet valve. If this valve is broken or twisted, the flow of water might slow down or stop completely.

If the pressure of the valve is not up to 20 psi, the water flow rate will be affected. Use a water pressure regulator to know if the water pressure is too low and needs to be adjusted.

In addition, carry out a continuity test to know if you should replace the water inlet valve.

Note: It is advised that you unplug your Kenwood refrigerator from its power source before you start troubleshooting the water dispenser. This will save you from electric shock.

Kenwood Refrigerator Water Dispenser Leaking – What to Do

If your Kenwood refrigerator dispenser is leaking, inspect the following parts and fix the faulty ones:

1. Water Line

If air is trapped in the water line, your refrigerator dispenser will start leaking because of the pressure buildup. Water will be forced through an opening in the dispenser.

To resolve this problem, you have to unclog the refrigerator water line. Place a bowl under the dispenser spigot and turn on the dispenser. The water tank should be empty in about five minutes. As water flows out from the dispenser, the trapped air escapes in the process.

2. Water Inlet Valve

If the water line is not the source of the leak, then inspect the water inlet valve. If there are cracks on the water inlet valve, they will be an avenue for water to leak. Replace the water inlet valve if it is cracked or twisted.

You should also examine the water pressure to the dispenser using a water pressure regulator. If the pressure is too high, water might be forced through the cracks or openings in the dispenser.

3. Drip Tray

The drip tray is installed to collect excess water that may spill over from your dispenser. Since the drip tray is almost like a flat plate, do not expect it to hold water for long. Water may spill over to the floor when the drip tray is filled.

Once you notice that the drip tray is filled, empty it and the dripping will stop.

Note: Before you start troubleshooting the Kenwood refrigerator to know the cause of the leaks, ensure you unplug the power cord to avoid electric shock.

Kenwood Refrigerator Water Dispenser Not Cold – What to Do

If one of the Kenwood refrigerator dispenser problems you are grappling with is a water dispenser that is not dispensing cold water, the temperature of the refrigerator is probably too high. It could also be that the water in the reservoir is exhausted.

Fill up the reservoir with about 2 liters of water and wait for about 20 minutes for the water to get cold.

If the water tank and water hose were just recently installed, you have to wait for a couple of hours for the water to get cold.

How to Remove Water Dispenser from Kenwood Refrigerator

To remove the water dispenser from your Kenwood refrigerator to clean it or carry out some repairs, do the following:

Step 1: Turn Off the Power Supply

To start with, disconnect the power cord of your Kenwood refrigerator from the power source so you are not electrocuted in the course of removing your refrigerator dispenser.

Step 2: Remove the Water Tank

First, make sure there is no water in the water tank. Also, remove every item from the shelf above the water tank.

Check for a water funnel on top of the water tank and remove it. After that, remove the screws securing the shelf and pull it out. Also, remove the water tank.

Step 3: Remove the Rubber Ring

How to Fix a Broken Kenwood Refrigerator Water Dispenser Lever

To fix the broken dispenser lever on a Kenwood refrigerator, do the following:

Step 1: Unplug the Power Cord

Before you start fixing the dispenser lever, ensure you disconnect your refrigerator from its power source or turn off the circuit breaker on your home to prevent electrocution.

Step 2: Remove the Dispenser Frame

After observing the recommended safety protocol, remove the drip tray from the dispenser. After that, remove the dispenser assembly by taking off the screws around the frame. Next, place your putty knife at the bottom of the frame and pull it out. Do the same thing for the left and right sides, as well as the top of the frame.

At this point, you can now carefully pull out the dispenser assembly which has several wires connected to it. You will find the actuator lever attached to the back of the dispenser assembly with just one screw.

Step 3: Install the New Dispenser Lever

Use your Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw and replace the broken actuator lever with the new one.

After that, secure the actuator lever with a single Phillips screw and gently place the dispenser assembly on its frame. Ensure you screw back all screws you removed initially. That’s all it takes to replace a defective actuator lever on your Kenwood refrigerator dispenser.

Note that for this repair, you will need a new actuator lever, putty knife, and a Phillips screwdriver. The dispenser lever helps in opening the ice door and activating the ice dispenser switch. If the ice door does not open when the lever is pressed, the actuator lever needs to be examined.
